2024 Fall Harvest Picnic
September 8 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The EMBA Harvest Picnic will be held on Sunday, September 8th from Noon till 4:00 PM at Emmenegger Nature Park located just down the road from Powder Valley in Sunset Hills. We hope all members and their families will come spend an afternoon sharing beekeeping stories. This is always a fun afternoon with good food, mead tasting, honey exchange, and beekeeping camaraderie. We plan to begin serving food at 1:00, the club will furnish hotdogs, hamburgers, brats and all the fixings. The park is peaceful and sits on the banks of the Meramec River, there is a pavilion with picnic tables but you may want to bring lawn chairs.
Please bring a dish to share and whatever you want to drink.
Below is a chart of the suggested type of food to bring based on your last name.
A-I Side Dish
J-P Dessert
Q-Z Salad or Fruit
Mead Tasting
If you make Mead, please bring a bottle for the mead tasting. Many people have never tasted mead and after tasting it may get the Mead Making Bug.
6th Annual Honey Exchange
Our annual honey exchange has become a member favorite and will be held again this year at the Fall Harvest Picnic. If you would like to try honey from other beekeepers this is your chance. To participate, please bring up to (3) one pound bottles or jars of your honey. The jars should be labeled with your name or apiary name on the jar. You will receive one ticket per bottle entered. After our meal and all the honey is entered we will start drawing tickets for people to choose honey to take home from the honey entered. You will leave with as many jars as you came with.
