June 2024 Monthly Meeting

Our key note speaker this month will be Pamela J. Carter.  Pamela is an American Honey Show Training Council member, an AHSTC Certified Senior Honey Judge, as well as a Welsh Certified Senior Honey Judge.  Pamela will teach us how to prepare our honey and hive product entries for the Missouri State Fair coming up in August.  She  also serves on the board of the Illinois State Beekeepers Association and is a Purdue University Licensed Educator and Administrator.  Pamela is an avid beekeeper and is looking forward to sharing her winning strategies with us.  In fact, she would be happy to judge your honey samples if you have any already prepped for the competition.  Just bring your 1 lb. bottled honey sample to the meeting and we’ll save a little time for her to review and provide you with feedback.

We’ll start the meeting with This Month in Beekeeping, so bring your questions for our experts!  The EMBA will provide light refreshments before the meeting at 6:30 pm, the presentation will start at 7:00 pm.  Our meetings are open to everyone.  See you there!

Additionally we’ll have an auction!  We just received a donation from a 50 year beekeeper. We have a 4-frame manual extractor and two Bottling tanks (missing their lids) available for auction. Everything needs a good scrub but is serviceable. Bids will start at $10 and you must be able to take the equipment home after the meeting. We’ll also have some other small items to sell as well. All proceeds go to funding EMBA programs.
